Jeffrey “J.C.” Gillett spends his days aboard a 38-foot RV custom-built for the University of Iowa by Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa, and currently outfitted with artifacts and exhibits telling the stories of Iowans in World War II, water, and space exploration. As the vehicle’s first Mobile Museum Educator, Gillett travels across Iowa, stopping at elementary schools and events like RAGBRAI and the Iowa State Fair, sharing the vivid and interactive displays with children and adults alike. Between July 2014 and June 2015, the museum drove more than 13,300 miles to 52 Iowa towns in 41 counties, and saw 43,830 visitors.
