Hospitals are a place to get well, not get sick. Infectious disease physician Eli Perencevich works with a group of researchers at the University of Iowa and the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System to prevent and treat hospital-acquired infections. He is also an investigator on a $2.2 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop and test interventions to prevent dangerous pathogens like Ebola, MRSA, and Clostridium difficile from spreading in hospitals. The University of Iowa is one of six new U.S. health care centers to be designated Prevention Epicenters by the CDC. Learn more about the Perencevich Research Group here.
