  • What is your area of research or scholarship? My research focuses broadly on the application of contemporary topics in computer science and engineering, including artificial intelligence, virtual & augmented reality, and internet of things, to environmental and disaster sciences.
  • In simple terms, why does this research matter? Impact of natural disasters is inevitable. Flood damages alone are estimated to reach $1 trillion annually for 136 largest cities worldwide. Communication and education of disaster information and preparedness is critical for public and decision makers.
    What is your degree program and expected graduate date? Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, May 2020.

  • What are your career goals? My short-term goal is to finish my PhD successfully, whereas in the long term, I want to take a role in a research environment centered around developing solutions to real-life problems.
