The question was simple: does medication that prevents adult migraines also work for children? As data rolled into the UI College of Public Health’s Clinical Trials Statistical and Data Management Center from 31 trial sites around the country, Chris Coffey and colleagues realized that children’s migraines were prevented just as effectively on the placebo as on the medication. The results were published in The New England Journal of Medicine and the study was recently named a New England Journal of Medicine’s Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Top Story of 2016.
