Dare to Develop Reading
Deborah Reed, Ph.D.
Appointment(s):
Director, Iowa Reading Research Center
College(s): Education
As the director of the Iowa Reading Research Center, Deborah Reed researches best practices so that schools provide the most effective reading instruction. Iowa’s goal is for all children to become successful readers by the end of third grade, the time when most children transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Reed previously worked as a researcher at Florida State University’s Florida Center for Reading Research, where she focused on identifying and intervening with struggling readers in general and special education classrooms.
