Brandi Janssen grew up on a beef cattle farm in the Missouri Ozarks and has a deeply seeded passion for farming, farmers and the future of agriculture. As a trained anthropologist, Janssen takes a broad approach to farming safety, health and sustainability. This includes the interaction of the small-farm local food movement with commodity farms and corporate food distributors, developing a culture of farm safety, and rural access to health care. Her book Making Local Food Work: The Challenges and Opportunities of Today’s Small Farmers is forthcoming from the University of Iowa Press in 2017.
