Blending cultures allows Ana Merino to sing the song of her native Spain with Americana as the harmony in both poetry and in literature. As director of the Spanish Creative Writing program, Ana Merino encourages her students to do the same. She has published a scholarly book on comics titled El Comic Hispánico, a critical monograph on cartoonist Chris Ware, a youth novel titled El hombre de los dos corazones, three plays and nine books of poetry. She is a recipient of the Adonais and Fray Luis de Leon awards for poetry.
